Client: Stockport Council

Architects: Planit Architects

Shoppers, diners and businesses in Stockport town centre are the first in Greater Manchester to benefit from a San Francisco–inspired parklet; a mini-park installed on-street that features seating, greenery and cycle parking. To complement an underused part of the street, a pocket park has also been installed featuring planting, an art wall, a concrete table tennis table and chimes for children to play with.

Wright Landscapes worked from concept stage jointly with all Stakeholders including public consultation to deliver this government funded project. In order to achieve the Parklet theme, bespoke planters with a unique Dark Corten lacquered finish, intergrated hardwood seating units were installed along with street furniture and play equipment.

The project was completed by the collaborative efforts of working with local artists to create a historical and relevant Mural. Working alongside apprentice architects to create an effective and colourful planting scheme in keeping with the surroundings.

The site is now currently maintained by Wright Landscapes and enjoyed by the public and local residents.
