Wright Landscapes takes great satisfaction meeting the high expectations and standards for landscape maintenance at Edge Hill University. Founded in 1885, the University is situated on large grounds which includes playing fields, a woodland, lawned areas, roof gardens, recreational areas and a pond. As the Universities maintenance contractor, Wrights must meet the high expectations and standards and carefully plan work in concurrence with Edge Hills frequent sports & social events.
Wrights has successfully implemented a new specialist software to help us streamline our service and improve our ability to track job tasks. With the implementation of this software we have a Real-time map view of Job Status and Operators, job cards emailed direct to the Authorised Officer, electronic signatures and site photographs uploaded directly to the University's job file.
We provide, including but not limited to: Grass cutting, weed control, hedge pruning, shrub bed maintenance, fertilizer application, line marking, leaf removal, sweeping of the carpark, pond maintenance and seasonal bedding.
As part of our corporate social responsibility we work closely with Reaseheath Agriculture & Horticulture College to develop young horticulture apprentices. An example, would be on our Edge Hill contract where we directly employ an apprentice from the local area to work closely with the team leader.
Due to the size of the grounds, large amounts of green waste are produced. This waste is recycled into compost that is then utilised on site, minimising our environmental impact.
Wildlife within the grounds has been enhanced by installing a bug house, introducing a fence with recycled materials and planted a wildflower area. This has been received positively by both students and staff while successfully increasing species on site. Wrights have worked with the University’s Landscape Architect to ensure the landscaping is continually maintained with ecology and conservation in mind
